maple syrup puffed rice slice

A nice slice to have with suitable coffee or tea, or to pop into a kids lunchbox.

Makes 20, serve size  1 or 2 only.

For this recipe you will need

  • 90 grams of butter or df spread e.g. Nutellex
  • 2 TBS Pure  Maple Syrup
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 4 cups of rice bubbles or GF puffed rice
  • 1/2 teaspoon  only (No more!) of cinnamon optional*

To make

Line a rectangular slice tin with baking paper set aside

Place puffed rice in a large mixing bowl and set aside

In a small sauce pan add other ingredients, then heat on low to moderate heat until well blended and bubbles appear. This will take 4-6 minutes

Pour over puffed rice and mix  well

Press into prepared slice tin and put in fridge to set. This will take 3 to 4 hours.

Cut into 20 serves. Stores in a sealed contained in the fridge for up to a week.

Notes

Cinnamon contains salicylates and naturally occurring benzoate, which can be a problem for some people. but the amount used in this recipe should be tolerated by most for a single   serve
