Ingredients

  • 600 g potato, peeled and cut into 3 cm pieces
  • 2 tbsp non-GMO canola oil or sunflower oil (or other failsafe-suitable oil)
  • 4 sirloin steaks, fat trimmed (125–150 g per person)

Method

  1. Prepare Potatoes – Place potatoes in a pot, cover with cold water, bring to the boil, and cook until just softened. Drain well.
  2. Crisp Potatoes – Heat oil in a large frying pan over medium heat. Add potatoes and cook for 10–15 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden and crunchy.
  3. Cook Steak – Meanwhile, grill or fry steaks for 3–4 minutes each side, or until cooked to your liking. Remove from heat, cover, and rest for about 5 minutes before serving.

Serving Suggestions

  • Serve with steamed choko and green beans for an R1-friendly plate.
  • Add pear slices on the side for a refreshing contrast.
