A very simple, fresh side salad made with lettuce, cucumber and tomato.
Amine and Salicylate Notes
- Lettuce: generally a gentler choice, depending on variety and individual tolerance.
- Cucumber: can contribute salicylates; peeling may make it better tolerated for some people.
- Tomato: is a more significant food-chemical trigger for some people and may contribute salicylates, amines and natural glutamate. Fresh tomato is considered less triggering than tomato products
- For a lower salicylate/amine version, use mostly lettuce with peeled cucumber and reduce or omit the tomato according to tolerance.
Friendlier tip: Individual tolerance and serving size matter, so the salad can be adjusted rather than automatically avoided altogether.

- Place the lettuce in a bowl or on a plate.
