1. Place the chives in a small bowl, cover with boiling water to soften, then drain. Trim the tops and tails from the green and butter beans, divide into 8 bundles and tie each bundle together with a chive. Place the bundles in a steamer over a saucepan half-filled with simmering water or alternatively, place them in a saucepan with 3 tablespoons of water. 2. Cover the steamer and steam the beans over medium heat for 5–8 minutes, or until just tender. Don't allow the water to completely evaporate—add more if necessary. Drizzle the bean bundles with the melted butter and sprinkle with salt, and parsley. Serve immediately.
