Garlic Choko Stirfry

Choko (also known as Chayote) is used a lot in Asian Stirfries, it is also good  baked, steamed and cut thinly added to coleslaws and salads.

Simple Choko Stirfry

Serves 4 


  • 1 Tbsp suitable oil
  • 2 Chokos peeled and cut in thin apple like wedges/strips
  • 2 Garlic Cloves
  • Salt to taste.


  • Steam peeled choko for 3 minutes
  • Heat oil, sauté the garlic until fragrant, about 20 seconds. Add choko and stir-fry for 2 minutes or until it has a slightly translucent appearance but still quite firm.
  • Remove from heat and season with salt
  • Serve and enjoy!

Variation: add CARROT* strips (moderate)
