Sweet potatoes are low in amines and glutamate, but moderate (orange sweet potato) to higher (white sweet potato) in salicylates *. They are classified as a moderate chemical food  by the RPAH Allergy Unit.

Sweet potatoes are starchy root vegetable with sweet tasting flesh.  Sweet potatoes are a good source of fiber (resistant starch), vitamins C and D, beta-carotene, and minerals such as iron, potassium, and magnesium. Stored properly, in a cool, dark and dry place, sweet potatoes can keep for weeks. Sweet potatoes can be prepared similarly to ordinary  potatoes: they can be baked, boiled, or mashed. , They are also excellent in baked goods or desserts.
