GF, DF, Low Chemical
Serves 4
- 4 firm packham pears (cored and peeled thickly, halved or sliced)
- 4 tbsp sugar
- 2 tbsp Nuttelex or other suitable DF spread (or butter if dairy is tolerated)
- 100ml water
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla bean paste

Place pears in a pan (they should fit snuggly, but should not be stacked on one another)

Add butter and sugar – on moderate to high heat cook pears until caramalised.

Once caramalised add water and vanilla and cover with a tight fitting lid. Turn heat down to low and cook for 10 minutes. Check occasionally and adding more water as it evaporates.

Once cooked remove the lid and simmer stirring occasionally until the liquid has reduced
Variation
Swap pears for Golden Delicious (S) or Red Delicous Apples (S) if suitable (moderate Salicylates)
